Most likely the device you already own and carry with you nearly 24/7. ScribeCam works on iPhone and Android. On iPhone, ScribeCam is compatible with iOS 7 through the current iOS 26 — if your iPhone can run iOS 7 or later, it will work. On Android, ScribeCam is compatible with Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and above. Most modern Android devices running Android 10 and above support all features reliably across all major manufacturers.
In most environments the built-in microphone on your device is sufficient. If you expect to be working in noisy conditions, we recommend doing a quick audio test first. If noise is a concern, a wireless noise-canceling microphone is a good option. This includes devices you may already own, such as AirPods and comparable wireless earbuds on both iPhone and Android, many of which have noise canceling built in.
Set your camera to at least 1080p. Enable location services on your camera app so GPS coordinates are embedded in your video and photos. This is critical for location-based reports.
ScribeCam requires access to your camera and microphone to function. These permissions are required. There are additional optional permissions that unlock the full feature set within the app, including location access for GPS-tagged reports and photo library access for managing your media. You will be prompted to grant these when you first use the app and can adjust them at any time in your device settings.
Every report can be shared as a PDF or accessed online. Online reports are shared directly to a recipient's email address. The recipient accesses the report by logging in with the email address and password the report was shared to. PDF reports can be downloaded, emailed, or printed.
The report is generated immediately after your media has been processed and you have an opportunity to fully edit that report before sending it out.
When you use ScribeCam, the chain of custody begins the moment you start recording in the mobile app. Because we can verify and validate that the video, photos, and audio came directly from your device, there is no opportunity for outside interference or alteration. Every edit made after that point is version controlled. This creates end-to-end immutability from raw capture all the way to the final report, supported by the protocols we have in place to represent your report as verifiable, tamper-evident, and legally defensible.
Reports are protected behind authenticated access. Only authorized users can view, edit, or share a report.
